Brookfield to buy U.S. shopping mall owner Rouse in $2.9 billion all-cash deal

Shopping mall owner Rouse Properties Inc. has entered into an agreement to be bought by an affiliate of Brookfield Asset Management Inc. in an all-cash deal valued at $2.8 billion, including debt.

Shopping mall owner Rouse Properties Inc. has applied for an agreement to become bought by a joint venture partner of Brookfield Asset Management Inc. within an all-cash deal worth $2.8 billion, including debt.

Brookfield will acquire all the outstanding shares of Rouse’s common stock at $18.25 per share, New York-based Rouse said in a statement today.

The purchase price represents a premium of about 35 per cent a lot more than Rouse’s closing stock price on Jan. 15, the final trading day prior to Brookfield’s announcement of a proposal to get Rouse, the organization said.
