United Airlines orders 25 more Boeing jets, dashing Bombardier Inc’s hopes again

United had said the CSeries was a candidate as it examined the best aircraft to replace its regional planes.

United Airlines has ordered another 25 aircraft from Boeing Co., virtually killing Bombardier Inc.’s hopes of selling the CSeries towards the big U.S. carrier.

United said Tuesday that it will supplement its previously announced order for 40 narrow-body 737-700 jets with 25 more.

“The new 737-700 aircraft are ideal for our fleet as we still reduce our reliance on 50-seat aircraft,” said Gerry Laderman, United’s acting chief financial officer.
